Our Story
Remember the six infinity stones that Thanos used to wipe out half of the world's population?
Or the brown name card (ο△ロ) that Gong Yoo gave out in the recent phenomenal Korean drama series, Squid Game?
If not, the chandelier (nope, not the song by Sia) that crashed when The Phantom of the Opera swore revenge for Christine's betrayal?
The aforementioned stones, name card and chandelier seem to be just props but they are what breathes life into these memorable scenes.

They are essential to the story-telling.
They are characters in their own right!
Picture this, with thousands of shows being produced every year in Singapore, how many props are purchased, then discarded? Often, the same props are purchased across productions and due to the lack of storage space or uncertainty about the potential for future use, many of these props don’t get a new lease of life.
How much wastage is that?
How much wastage is that?
Art making has unintentionally contributed to the increase in carbon footprint in Singapore.
Several local theatre companies have shared concerns of paying too much for external storage facilities and yet they are still running out of space and adequate resources to maintain the props in storage.
Students and budding independent artists have to drastically reduce their art direction and vision due to the lack of budget and resources despite possessing the passion and skills to bring their ideas to fruition.
With these in mind, we dreamt up a solution of a centralised storage and props house for all art-makers. Props that are properly stored and taken care of by professionals, to be rented and shared by different productions.
The Props Collective was thus established in 2021. We are here to help build an ecosystem and transform the art-making aspect in the local film and theatre industry.
We believe art can be created communally and more sustainably while taking care of the environment. We are excited to welcome you to be part of our journey in building a culture of sustainable art making in Singapore.
